Since 1991, Broad Street United Methodist Church (BSUMC) has organized Christmastime giving programs as a partner in Bethlehem On Broad Street. This program has been a collaborative effort among BSUMC and five Columbus area Methodist sister churches that have come together in a mission to provide many services for neighbors in need. The program has taken different forms during this long giving tradition, and has served thousands of Columbus area residents. For many years, food boxes were assembled in mid-December and provided to those in need in the Franklin County Community. More recently, the church has prepared and provided a nutritious, free-to-all holiday meal. This year the event will be on December 13th, and, as usual, it will be held in the church’s building at the corner of East Broad Street at Washington Avenue (address below). Backpacks filled with useful necessities will also be given to individuals and families who need the items, on a first-come-first-served basis. Refreshments and kids activities will be offered in a Christmas party atmosphere of celebration, fellowship, snacks and music. No reservation is required.

BSUMC’s Manna Café also continues to serve neighbors in need every Wednesday. This ministry serves 150-200 guests with a nutritious meal, gracious hospitality, and relief from the weather outside. BSUMC collaborates with area churches, businesses, and non-profits to obtain and prepare the food. Manna Café is located in the Broad Street UMC building (address below). No reservations are needed, no dress code is required, and all are welcome.
